SOLD - ON SALE -  Genuine Hermes piano hand bag, circa 1994

I am always on the look out for interesting and unusual vintage pieces for the website and when I saw this Hermes piano bag I knew I had to have it! This bag is a modern take on the original piano bag first launched in the 1950-60s. The Hermes piano bag, is rectangular shape very classic in style and initially designed for society ladies-who-lunch. Every one is familar with the Hermes Birkin and Kelly bags but what I liked about this bag its understated and a classic. Hermes pride themselves for making high end luxury leather goods, not using asembly lines, but rather each bag is hand-made by one craftsman who may have been employed by the company for decades. Each bags has hand stitched individual pieces with linen thread and using an awl. One bag might require 18 to 24 hours to produce.

 

You can tell this is a quality item, the burgundy calf leather is super soft and is beautifully off-set by the biege silk fabric. Inside there is a zip pocket and extra compartments for storage the bag and there is additional back pocket. The bag is clean both inside and out. Some gentle wear on the leather strap. Overall in excellent condition. Date stamping: circle with X in middle of circle circa 1994, stamp located right of inside zip pocket. If you are going to invest in Hermes this is a good starter.
