Christian Dior was founded in 1946, by the influential French fashion designer. Dior's very first collection coined the phrase 'New Look' by influential Carmel Snow editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar. His look employed fabrics lined predominantly with percale, boned, bustier-style bodices, hip padding, wasp-waisted corsets and petticoats that made his dresses flare out from the waist, giving his models a very curvaceous form. Since Dior’s death in 1957, the brand has expanded into couture, Prêt a Porter, cosmetics and fragrance as well as handbags and accessories.
