Chanel stamp their logo and print text such as Made in France and Made in Italy inside their bags. The colour of the brand stamping should match the colour of the hardware. So if your 2.55 hardware is silver expect silver stamping, gold hardware, gold stamping.
STYLE & QUALITY OF STAMPING
We have noticed that 2.55 bags made in the late 80s, 90s and early 00s used a thick style of font lettering as shown in fig 1. We have not seen 2.55 bags made in this period with the thinner style of lettering shown on the replica bag in fig 2. Chanel may well have varied font style on more recent 2.55s, we are not sure as we deal almost exclusively with older vintage Chanel 2.55s. If anyone has a Chanel 2.55 bag with thinner lettering please get in touch!

You might expect fake bags to copy stamping accurately, surprisingly most fakes often rush brand stamping. The replica lettering on first inspection looks very good. Now carefully check the difference between E in made and the E in France. The second E has clearly been miss-printed, it's smudged. Chanel would reject this quality of work.
EMBOSSED INTERIOR CC LOGO
Check the position of the Chanel logo, it should sit one and a half centimetres below the quilted C, see Fig 3 below. Also the width of the Cs and the gap between them should be a consistent 0.9 cm. The width of the Chanel logo is 3.3 cm.

As with the CC lock the right C should overlap the left C at the top. The left C should overlap the right C at the bottom.

The classic burgundy interior uses stitching that matches the colour of the leather. Replicas sometimes fail to copy this.
Chanel vary where they print Made in France or Made in Italy. We have notice more contemporary 2.55 bags have Made in France underneath the Chanel logo. 1989-91 era 2.55s printed Made in France on the opposite side of the bag. Determining if the Made in France was in the correct position would only be possible if you had access to every Chanel 2.55s ever made as they no doubt varied this over time, size, colour and fabric used.
