Have you noticed CC locks sometimes have a stamping mark? Not all 2.55 bags have these markings, so don’t worry if your bag doesn’t.
Also, Chanel moved the position and style of these markings. So the stamping could be different and on any of the four corners of the lock, or there may not be a mark! Confusing, yes…Here are a series of authentic CC lock marks from a range of our Chanel bag.
If the lock has a marking the bag is made in France. If you check the inside of your bag you should find the stamping Made in France. If the lock has no marking, then the bag is made in Italy.

If you open the bag and look at the back of the turnstile lock you should see a backplate similar to that shown below. Chanel only use flat (slot) head screws. Unless the original screws have been replaced different types of screw are a good indication of a fake bag.
Professional authenticators will also look for differences in letter styling and kerning (space between the letters). If you look closely at the two backplates you should be able to make out differences in both the letter style and kerning. The replica lettering is different.
