Authentic Chanel 2.55 bags and designer high-end bags have a high stitch count. This ensures durability and helps maintain the bag’s original shape. This requires more time and cost.
AUTHENTIC 2.55 STITCHING
Authentic 2.55 bags should have 11 stitches per inch. The image below is taken from a 90s classic 2.55 Chanel bag. You can see 11 stitches per panel.

REPLICA CHANEL 2.55 BAG
This replica version has 9 stitches per inch. 2 less stitches per inch results in a noticeable difference in the quality finish of the bag.

Genuine Chanel lining lies flat against the bag. There are no visible lumps or bumps. In fact it is very difficult to separate the lining at the bottom of the bag it is so well constructed (by the way don’t pull too hard when you are checking!).
Fig 3. Authentic lining fits snugly with no creasing
Replica 2.55 bags often skimp on the quality and fit of the lining. The replica lining below looks inferior and feels like it is made from a cheaper leather. The colour doesn’t match the original being a lighter red. You can see a crease line to the left and right of the CC embossed logo. Also the lining at the bottom is loose and visibly creased. In contrast it is fairly easy to separate the lining at the bottom of the bag.
